Woodwell Climate Launches Permafrost Pathways
Client: Woodwell Climate Research Center
This year, the Woodwell Climate Research Center launched Permafrost Pathways, a first-of-it’s-kind effort to address one of our world’s more significant climate threats: Arctic permafrost thaw. Permafrost is perennially frozen ground that stores massive amounts of carbon. As the Arctic warms, permafrost is thawing, releasing the carbon it stores back into the atmosphere, and causing the very ground beneath Arctic villages to collapse. Permafrost Pathways is bringing together leading experts in climate science, policy action, and environmental justice to inform and develop strategies to address the local and global impacts of this crisis.
